Subscribe to a mod in the Ostranauts Steam Workshop, then open MODS from the main menu. The MODS screen shows detected mods, lets you change load order with arrows, and lets you disable a mod with its checkbox.
Install a Workshop mod
- Open the Workshop.Use Steam, a browser, or Main Menu → MODS → Open Workshop.
- Select Subscribe.Steam downloads subscribed Workshop items and keeps them updated.
- Return to MODS.Confirm the mod is detected and check its status before starting a save.
- Set load order.Use the up and down arrows when a mod author specifies an order.
Read the status before loading
The MODS screen could not find the expected mod.
The game had a problem reading one or more files in that mod.
The mod targets an older game version than the one currently running.
Workshop and local duplicates
If the same mod exists locally and through Workshop, the game prioritizes the local copy and skips the duplicate Workshop version. This is intentional, but it can make troubleshooting confusing if you forget a local development copy exists.
Fastest mod test
Disable all non-Core entries, reproduce the issue once, then re-enable mods in small groups. Do not use a valuable save for the first test after a game update.
